Julie here with a couple of pieces of home decor to inspire you to get creative.
I love creating little pieces of wall art and am always looking for ways to make something a little different from what you find in the shops. I had some small wooden box frames in my stash with a 4 inch centre section and had painted them white quite some time ago and decorated the fronts of the frames with some pretty mulberry paper flowers, but I wanted to put something in the centre and had been stumped until I suddenly had a little light bulb moment! The result? See for yourself .....
I painted some wooden hearts with white acrylic paint and once that was dry I stamped on my chosen image using black archival ink. Then I coloured various elements of each image using distress inks applied with a water brush, in tones to tie in with the colours of the flowers on the frames. They were simply finished with a few sequins, including one over the drilled hole at the top of the heart to hide it!
This is a really easy little weekend project using very few materials, but the end result is something very pretty and very different from anything in the shops. Now I just have to find a space for displaying them!
Here's a list of the products I used which can be found over at our shop:
- wooden hearts
- black archival ink pad and distress inks
- mulberry paper flowers
- water brush
- stamps of your choosing - I used one called Floral Collage Timeless Floral by Imagination Crafts
I hope these simple projects have inspired you to get creative!
Bye for now,
